Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a Registered Nurse to work at a facility in Rome, NY. These are registry positions with our company. *$100 Sign-On Bonus*
Pay Rate: $60 / hour

Shift details:
Daily Activities of the 2nd Shift Nurse, but not limited to:
1) Assess and treat any sick or injured student.
2) Assess and treat any sick or injured staff who become ill or injured while at work.
3) Administer and assess students that receive scheduled or as needed medications.
4) Provide information and teaching for students and staff needed for activities of daily living skills that pertain to medical/health center.
5) Attend after school/evening field trips with the staff and students in case a medical emergency arises.
6) Maintain the AEDs throughout the campus. Prepare medication boxes that go home with students who have regular medications or when refills are needed.
7) Notify parents/guardians of student status changes and necessary needs of the student.
8) Admit and treat sick students and arrange transportation home, whether it be by parent/Client or school district.
9) Triage patients and determine what level of care they may need.
10) Audit and monitor all medications (OTC & personal).
11) Document all events reported on the proper forms and charts.
12) Provide necessary forms to students and staff as listed in the NYSED manual.
13) Maintain a clean & adequately stocked health center.
14) Answer and direct phone calls.
15) Answer and screen any visitor who may come to the residential entrance and notify the dorm supervisor to answer the door.
Duties of a School Nurse - Responsibilities of the director of school health services can be delegated to the school nurse if within their scope of practice. These typically include: Informing parents/guardians, students and teachers of a student's health condition subject to federal and state confidentiality laws;Guide parents, students and teachers in procedures for preventing and correcting defects and diseases;Instruct school personnel in procedures to follow in case of accident or illness;and Survey and make necessary recommendations concerning the health and safety aspects of school facilities and the provision of health information. {Education (Ed) Law §901]
Immediately send home, in a safe and proper manner, any student showing signs of any communicable or infectious disease reportable under Public Health Law that imposes a significant risk of infections to others in the school. Immediately notify the local public health agency of any disease reportable under Public Health Law. [Ed Law §906]
Skill Level - Needs to be an R.N., CPR certified, experience with tracheostomy and gastric tube, asthmatics, medication administration and special needs children.
Experience - Pediatric and special need children, triage, CPR certified, tracheostomy and gastric tube care experience, asthma care, medication administration.
Qualifications - R.N. In NYS, valid CPR certification, computer skills
