Job Description


Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a Registered Nurse to work at a facility in Buffalo, New York. These are registry positions with our company.

Pay Rate: $65 - $70 / hour

Shift details:
  • M-F 8: 00 - 4: 00 (7.50 hours)

Duties include the following:

1) Conduct site visits and required follow-up activities to health care providers enrolled in the Vaccines for Children program.
This involves:
a) Completing a standardized site visit review questionnaire by talking with the staff at the provider's office and entering the information into an online computer system during the visit. The questions are related to how the office: screens and documents patient eligibility to receive publicly-funded vaccine;stores and manages vaccine inventory;and use the New York State Immunization Information System (NYSIIS) to report vaccine doses administered to patients.
b) Recording the temperature of the refrigerators and freezers used to store program vaccine.
c) Informing providers of any areas needing corrective action (the information is noted on the site visit review tool).

2) Conduct on-site audits of school immunization records. This involves visiting the school (may include pre-kindergartens through colleges) and reviewing records for compliance with school immunization entrance and attendance requirements. This involves the use of a chart that lists all the required vaccines for the age or grade level being audited. The reviewer compares the immunization record (list of vaccines received by the child) on file at the school (for each child in the selected grade) against the list on the requirement chart.

3) Conduct audits at hospitals with birthing units to review for compliance with the perinatal hepatitis B immunization. This involves reviewing records and noting if the perinatal hepatitis B vaccine was given to newborns.

Minimum qualifications:
  • New York State Registered Nurse (RN);1-year minimum experience in direct clinical care, experience administering vaccines (including the MMR vaccine);Current Basic Life Support Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor of Science (BSN) or higher degree in nursing. Experience with communicable disease and/or outbreak response and control activities. The candidate should have excellent written, verbal and organizational skills;high self-confidence and strong interpersonal skills;ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize work load;competence with Microsoft Word;ability to use web-based computer systems;experience and strong comfort level communicating with health care providers;and the ability to conduct frequent day-trip travel.
