General job duties. Types of procedures required. Identifies patient care needs and builds rapport with patients and caregivers to assess situation, reason for visit and disposition. Creates compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients and caregivers. Assists provider with exam, procedures, testing, and treatment and resolves patient needs by working with and maintaining a relationship with the multidisciplinary team. Maintains a safe and clean working environment and complies with policies and protocols put in place to protect patients and Mission Partners. Works at the highest level of licensure by providing quality competent care, following best practice standards, working to achieve care goals and quality outcomes, and following the standards of care set by the state board of nursing. Administers medication and treatments per provider order and uses nursing judgment and critical thinking skills to provide quality care Maintains confidential status of medical records and provides timely documentation. Encourages changes in patient behavior by promoting independence through goal setting with education utilizing teach back methods. Anticipates and/or responds to emergency situations in a calm, efficient manner. Advocates for patients and their caregivers to positively influence value driven and effective nursing care within the healthcare communities.
Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. EMR, Pyxis Medication Management System,
Required skills and minimum years of experience. 6 months experience as an RN in an acute healthcare setting. Preferred Nephrology, or Urology experience.
Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois, BLS
Shift or schedule requirements. Three 12 hour shifts (1900-0730), with alternating weekends and holidays.
Floating to other units/departments. Possibly to other general-medical/surgical units
Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept. 21 beds.
Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only) 1: 5-6 for night shift.
Dress Code: Scrubs, any color. No visible tattoos or piercings (may have one set of small earrings).
Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program. Online orientation to OSF, Online orientation to Epic (EMR). Specific training for the urology, nephrology, and transplant population will be completed on the unit.
