Job Description

Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a Physician to work at a Facility in Queens, NY. These are registry positions with our company.

Pay Rate: $227 / hour
*1099 Independent Contractor

Qualifications:

  • To be qualified for assignment under this Contract, temporary physicians:
  • Shall be Board-eligible or certified in Cardiology, Orthopedics, Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Practice or other relevant specialty.
  • Shall be currently licensed by NYS Education Department.
  • Shall have at least two (2) years recent, relevant medical practice experience, or a satisfactory equivalent, subject to Authority approval.
  • It is desirable that physicians have training and/or experience in occupational medicine.
  • Malpractice insurance not required. Performing evaluations only;no treatment assignment.
  • Graduation from a medical school
  • Current, valid medical licensure in the State of New York
  • One to three years of medical practice or a satisfactory equivalent
  • Previous experience in medical records review/appeals procedure
  • Good communication skills- written, telephonic, face to face
  • Professionalism in interactions
  • Computer literate

JOB DESCRIPTION

Following his/her medical examination and/or assessment, under the supervision of the Authority's Medical Director or designee, the physician shall:

  • Perform routine physical medical examinations in the Authority's Medical Assessment Centers (MACs) to detect presence of specific conditions and render medical decisions regarding the pre-employment candidates "and/or employees'ability to perform assigned duties and tasks.
  • Complete all necessary medical documents and enter all related data into electronic medical records.
  • Perform the work and services, when necessary, at any Authority facilities set forth in Section IV.
  • Determine appropriate work/hire status and follow-up revisit if needed.

Medical Doctor Tasks

The medical doctor shall provide medical expertise and support in the review of AAR appellants'application and eligibility determination documentation as well as:

•assist the Eligibility Appeals Director with conducting eligibility appeals via telephone, video conferencing, through submission of written documentation or in-person

•Assist Board member/s with responding to questions, concerns, and complaints concerning eligibility appeals from AAR appellants

•have a comprehensive understanding of and comply with the established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives

•understand that eligibility appeal decisions must comply with the ADA and have a comprehensive understanding of the ADA regulations, specifically those applicable to eligibility appeals

The medical doctor is to participate in all eligibility appeal hearings whether in person, for review of documentation, teleconferencing and/or the format scheduled by the Eligibility Appeals Director. Schedules will be forwarded in advance of the hearing dates. The medical doctor may be required to attend meetings and/or conference calls relevant to the eligibility appeal hearings.

The licensed, medical/healthcare professional who conducted the assessment may be required to appear at the appeal hearing to provide additional information and, if necessary, answer questions from the Appeals Board, the Applicant and/or the Applicant's representative. If the licensed, medical/healthcare professional who conducted the assessment is not available at the time of the appeal, the assessment center may send a suitable representative approved by NYCT.
