Requirements:
- A High School diploma or GED is required.
- A Medical Assistant certificate is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year working as a medical assistant, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
- Certification in phlebotomy is preferred.
- NOTE: requirements will vary based on division, product, subproduct, and/or state
Description:
- Assist providers with the examination of people in recovery (PIR), measuring vital signs, venipuncture, including collecting specimens and for laboratory analysis
- Prepare PIR paperwork for provider appointments
- Prepare rooms for examination by the provider
- Maintain a steady flow of PIRs in the medical department
- Respond to medical emergencies
- Complete required documentation timely.
- Exemplify customer service by answering phones and interacting with program members, staff, clinicians, and visitors in a timely and pleasant manner
- Use the EHR to check in clients presenting for appointments
- Schedule follow-up appointments and re-schedule appointments when necessary
- Work closely with medical staff and communicate when clients have arrived for appointments
- Help to resolve client's issues as they arise to avoid escalation
- Utilize de-escalation skills when appropriate
- Positively interact with clients when waiting to see medical staff
- Accept changes in assignments in the spirit of good teamwork;accept constructive feedback about performance or behaviors;demonstrate creative thinking and problem-solving relating to issues or concerns
- Escort PIRs and all guests around the facility as needed
