Minimum Qualifications
An Infection Preventionist (IP) must have experience with Windows-based operating systems and Microsoft Office. The IP must maintain current certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) and have an undergraduate degree in nursing, microbiology, laboratory sciences, or a health- or public health-related field. A master's degree is preferred. Two years of infection prevention and control experience is required.
Role Description: The infection preventionist (IP) will work as part of the multidisciplinary Healthcare-associated Infection Prevention/Antimicrobial Stewardship (HAIP/AS) program consisting of epidemiologists, project managers, and infection preventionists. The IP will serve as an infection prevention and control subject-matter expert. The HAIP/AS program scope includes both traditional and non-traditional healthcare settings and community-based congregate settings and includes response and prevention efforts for the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare-associated infections, and other emerging threats. Assigned tasks and subject matter area(s) will vary based on the position.
The IP will ensure that all program activities and objectives are completed in a timely manner and incorporate evidence-based information.
The IP may develop infection prevention and control educational materials (e.G., checklists, toolkits, presentations, guidance documents). Developed materials may be conveyed via live or webinar presentation or via conference calls.
The IP may lead, coordinate, and consult on outbreak response in traditional and non-traditional healthcare facilities such as acute care hospital, long term care facilities, assisted living facilities, homeless shelters, drug and alcohol treatment centers, congregate living settings and other traditional healthcare settings. Response actions must be communicated to emergency response partners in email and in web-based response software, per protocol.
This position may work with NHSN data to review the accuracy of reporting by healthcare facilities, analyze data, or produce summary reports.
