Job Description
Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO) to work at a facility in Williamsburg, VA. These are registry positions with our company.
Pay Rate: $237 / hour
*1099 Independent Contractor
Assignment:
- Available to start immediately (pending credentialing)
- Initial Appointment for 3-month assignment, with option to extend 3 -6-month assignment, if the position remains unfilled
- Full-time, 40 hours a week with assigned office hours of Monday to Friday from 8: 00 a.M. To 5: 00 pm with 1 hour lunch break; no alternative schedules accepted
- NOT approved for overtime
- No weekends, no holidays, no on-call duty
- Ability to provide cross coverage, to include forensic populations, as required
- Once a month, participation in Lunch Coverage Call (12: 00 PM –1: 00 PM)
Qualifications:
- 3+ more years as a Physician/Practitioner, autonomous preferred
- Strong experience working with patients having Serious Mental Illness (SMI)
- Psychiatric Crisis Management and Forensic experience, a plus
- Experience working with adult admissions or geriatric admissions and acute and chronic health management of adult and geriatric populations.
- Comfortable working on admissions work up and potential rapid turnover
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary treatment team
- BLS Healthcare Provider certification is required
Position Details:
- Facility Hospitalizations: Acute, Adult, Inpatient wards (male & female)
- Facility Demographics: Forensic, NGRI, Civil, Jail Transfer, and Geriatric populations
- Facility Stay: Short and Long-term length of stay
- o Caseload varies by ward and assignment (40-45)
- Psychiatry coverage is provided
- Full complement of interdisciplinary team members
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for patient care that includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population.
- Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner.
- Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mental status examination) and entering admission orders.
- Orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures.
- Monitors patients'progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed.
- Consults with authorized representatives/legal guardians on patient medical status.
- Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioner if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment.
- Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed.
- Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices. Assesses and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions.
- Ensures timely and quality documentation (admissions, follow-up and annual, etc.) in patient records in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.
