Shift Details:
Monday through Friday 8am-5pm
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated DHH Aide to join our team and support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting. The DHH Aide will work closely with students, teachers, and other school staff to ensure that students have access to the resources and support they need to succeed academically and socially. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, knowledge of sign language, and a passion for advocating for students with diverse needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various school settings, including classrooms, resource rooms, and extracurricular activities
- Assist students in understanding and completing assignments, participating in classroom discussions, and accessing educational materials
- Facilitate communication between students and teachers, interpreters, and other school staff to ensure that students have equal access to information and instruction
- Support students in developing self-advocacy skills, independence, and confidence in their abilities
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations for students
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required;Bachelor's degree in deaf education, special education, or related field preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods used by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational or similar setting
- Knowledge of deaf culture, educational strategies, and best practices for supporting students with diverse needs
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
