Job Description

1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.
Professional caregiver responsible and accountable for his/her practice for assigned patient(s). Utilizing the nursing process, the RN delivers superb health care in a compassionate manner, is committed to excellence and empowered to streamline and improve operations.

2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
EPIC medical record, B. Braun pumps, Avea ventilators, Gemstar epidural, Edwards and Phillips patient monitoring, Omnicell medication dispense.

3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
2 years minimum critical care experience, post heart cath recovery and patient management, post op day 1 open heart surgery patient management, experience with long term ventilated patients, experience with swan ganz catheters, and vasoactive medication titration. TEA, Triple A and general surgery patient management. Travelers will not get fresh heart patients. Monitor techs & CNA's on every shift.

4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
Oregon License, BLS, ACLS

5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
12 hour shifts, every other weekend (may need to work consecutive weekends to accommodate requested time off)

Scheduled call is not required, but can be put on mandatory stand by due to low census for their regularly scheduled shift.

6. Floating to over units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)
Will float to ICU, IMCU, CVICU, ED first and then Medical Surgical, telemetry, post surgical, ortho neuro, ED

RN Union Contract states traveler or agency nurses float prior to regularly employed staff. Traveler RN may float to any floor. If they float to med-surg, they are there as a resource nurse and may take a reduced assignment.

7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.
CVICU: 16, ICU 15, IMCU 13

8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)
1: 1, 1: 2 in ICU and CVICU, 1: 3 in IMCU

9. Dress Code:
Standard scrub top and bottoms - any colors. No visible tattoos on the neck or above. No facial piercings

10. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.
32-36 hours critical care orientation ICU, IMCU and CVICU

Must read Asante Email weekly as this is the primary means of communication.
ICU has been designated bronze Beacon 6 years in a row. CVICU has been designated gold Beacon 6 years in a row. There is support for education provided (2 RN educators) and travelers have said Asante is "rich with resources" for learning and growing in their career.
Excessive absences (>3) may be subject to termination.
