1. General job duties. Types of procedures required. General nursing for medical/surgical departments.
2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.) EPIC for HER, omnicells for medications
3. Required skills and minimum years of experience. medical surgical experience of at least 1 year.
4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc) BLS, ACLS would be great but not required.
5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?) 0645-1915 and 1845-0715. Never work alone. Can be placed on standby and be ready to report back to work at anytime rest of scheduled shift.
6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?) All medical surgical floors. Those include: gen/med, ortho/neuro, post surgical, heart center, inpatient rehab, behavioral health, medical oncology.
7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept. Depends on which department but anywhere from 25-40.
8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)
Anywhere from 1: 3 to 1: 6 depending on shift and department.
9. Dress Code: Scrubs, any color acceptable. No tattoos above shoulders can be shown, and only facial piercings allowed is nose stud. Natural hair color only (no green/purple/blue etc)
